Yokogawa CMZ-900 Gyrocompass — Operator Unit & Controller Box
Overview
The Yokogawa CMZ-900 series is a highly reliable, IMO-approved gyrocompass system (Resolution A.424(XI), JIS-F9602 Class A) designed to provide accurate true-north heading by using a fast-spinning, suspended rotor influenced by Earth’s rotation . The Operator Unit & Controller Box forms the interface module enabling control, signal distribution, and integration with external navigation systems.
Key Features
-
Modular Compact Design
Allows integration into an autopilot steering stand, optimizing installation space on the bridge -
High-Speed Serial Data Output
Supports IEC 61162-2 format for fast delivery of heading and rate-of-turn (ROT) data -
Manual & Automatic Speed Error Correction
Enhances navigational accuracy by compensating for the ship’s speed; manual adjustment is available as needed -
External Heading Sensor Backup
Integrates external sensors (like GPS or magnetic compasses) to serve as redundant heading sources for enhanced reliability -
Advanced Anti-Vibration System
Features a specialized damping mechanism using high-viscosity oil to minimize shock and vibration effects—essential for rough sea conditions and fast maneuvering vessels -
Easy Maintenance with Long Intervals
The gyrosphere housing uses a titanium capsule with durable electrodes to preserve purity and reduce maintenance frequency. The lower container is designed to facilitate emergency gyrosphere replacement by ship crew -
Configurable Restart Timer
Allows automatic restart timing configuration between 1 to 99 hours, aiding in maintenance scheduling and system readiness
