Installation & Usage Notes
-
Before installation, unplug the handset from the radio system.
-
Visually inspect the handset for any cracks or damage.
-
Remove handset housing screws (usually 6 screws) and separate the front and rear covers—be careful not to damage clips.
-
Disconnect microphone and speaker connectors. Remove the old handset cable connector from the PCB socket.
-
Insert the new cable connector into the PCB socket with correct orientation — do not force it.
-
Ensure that the cable strain-relief grommet is properly positioned in its designated place in the housing.
-
Reconnect the microphone and speaker wires, reassemble the handset covers, and reinstall screws in their original positions. Avoid over-tightening to prevent cracking the casing.
Why It Matters
A worn or faulty handset cable can compromise voice communication quality, lead to intermittent faults, or reduce reliability in critical maritime operations. Replacing it with the correct OEM-compatible cable ensures that your VHF system remains fully operational and compliant with communication standards.
