SPERRY MARINE NAVIGAT X MK2 GYROCOMPASS

Description & Key Features
The NAVIGAT X MK2 is a microprocessor-controlled gyrocompass system with integrated automatic North speed error correction. Its single-unit design, housed in a durable polyurethane hard foam casing, allows installation on any bridge. An optional remote operating unit can also be installed if required.

A unique buoyancy-supported gyrosphere ensures North stabilization during short power failures. For example, after a three-minute power loss, the maximum deviation is under 2°. Once power is restored, the system quickly returns to the correct heading. Twin rotors combined with liquid damping effectively eliminate latitude errors.

Heading is measured as a 13-bit absolute value via a digital shaft encoder. High-speed follow-up (up to 100°/s) ensures accurate heading and rate of turn data under all conditions. Integrated monitoring of power supply, gyroscope current, and follow-up system guarantees reliable operation.

Data & Signal Interfaces

  • Input interfaces: magnetic compass (fluxgate or electronic), speed log, position receiver

  • Outputs: 4 serial data outputs to analog/digital repeaters, 2 RS422 sensor data outputs, Fast and SuperFast interfaces (adjustable baud rate up to 38,400), Furuno AD10 heading output, 6 step/0 heading output, and analog rate of turn

  • One sensor output can be used for graphical heading printouts with NAVIPRINT

  • Compatible with multi-compass setups using NAVITWIN III Compass Monitor and Switch-Over Unit
