NautoPilot NP2015 Operator Unit

Overview

The NP2015 Operator Unit serves as the central control panel for the NautoPilot NP2015/2025 autopilot system. It places heading, track and steering commands into the hands of the operator via a membrane keyboard, rotary preset knob and clear status display. It is suitable for use on the bridge, in helm stations or second-control positions.

Key Features

  • Membrane-key interface grouped into command keys (operating modes) and function keys (settings & parameters) for intuitive navigation.

  • Rotary knob with dual functionality: allows immediate preset heading input or delayed SET activation for heading changes.

  • LED indicators built into keys:

    • Steady LED indicates the corresponding function is active.

    • Flashing LED signals that a system message (e.g., unacknowledged alarm) is pending.

  • Multi-mode operation:

    • Heading control (AUTO)

    • Manual steering (HAND)

    • Track control (with external navigation receiver)

  • Support for secondary operator units, allowing multiple bridge stations or duplicate panels in the system.

  • Fits into a flush-mount cut-out as per the dimensional drawing 102 D 886 (HP005/HP007).

Technical & Installation Notes

  • Rated supply voltage: 18 – 32 V DC for system operation.

  • Cable to connection unit recommended within ~3 m for optimal installation.

  • Installation site should allow comfortable visibility and operation from control position; ensure clearance beneath desk cut-out for mounting work.

  • The operator unit is just one part of the overall NP2015/2025 system—other components include connection units, feedback units, CPU/PCB modules and the steering control unit.

Why It Matters

A reliable and ergonomic operator unit is essential for safe and efficient autopilot operations. It enables the helmsman or officer to select steering modes, set headings or tracks, monitor system alarms, change configuration parameters and react to navigational changes quickly. Upgrading or maintaining the NP2015 operator unit ensures full system responsiveness, especially in challenging conditions.
