Installation Notes

  1. Remove the handset from the base or radio unit before beginning cable replacement.

  2. Perform a visual inspection of the handset for cracks or damage.

  3. Unscrew the handset housing and separate the front and rear covers carefully to avoid breaking internal clips.

  4. Disconnect the speaker and microphone connectors, remove the old cable connector from the PCB socket.

  5. Insert the new handset cable connector into the PCB socket with correct orientation; do not force it.

  6. Ensure the cable grommet or strain relief is correctly seated in its designated position in the handset casing.

  7. Reconnect microphone and speaker leads, reassemble the covers, and reinstall screws to their original positions. Avoid over-tightening to prevent plastic cracking.

Why It Matters

A worn or damaged handset cable can degrade voice transmission quality or create intermittent communication faults in marine radio systems. Using an OEM-compatible replacement cable ensures continued reliability, which is critical for safety, operation, and regulatory compliance on board vessels.
